Best advice ever heard or read: Marriage was the first human relationship ordained and blessed by God. So, my marriage has to be the priority relationship in my life – everything else will fall in line after that.
Life verse: Romans 12:1-2
Testimony: I was a nominal Catholic who believed in God, and that Jesus died for my sins – I just didn’t understand why He had to die for my sins! (I was a pretty “good” guy, you know!). I heard some men discussing the Bible one day and it struck me that I had no idea what they were talking about. How could I say I am a Christian, Catholic or otherwise, if I didn’t even know what the Bible said? I realized I was a hypocrite! I began to ask questions, read, and listen to some Christian teaching on the radio. Over time, I came to believe intellectually, but still hadn’t surrendered my heart to Him. I was sitting in my barracks room in Yakusuka, Japan where I was training some ships’ crews on operational tactics, listening to J. Vernon McGee’s study on John. He was talking about Peter stepping out of the boat – and I realized I needed to step out of the boat also – I had to trust Jesus and not worry about the wind and the waves in my life! Since coming to the Lord, I have never looked back. He has been faithful through many trials, hurts, pains, and struggles. Many marriages wouldn’t have lasted through the storms Laura and I have weathered – only because of Jesus! Praise Him!
