Kathy Queen
Background: Kathy Queen began her work in Iraq in March of 2004 with an organization now called Entrust (formerly BEE International), which assists the church as Paul instructs in Timothy 2:2, “and the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Her work now involves working with Kurdish Christian women to help them develop a biblical worldview and prepare them to share their faith. Kathy partners with other missionaries from different organizations in the women-to-women leadership training programs.
Kathy first made her entrance into Northern Iraq among the Kurdish people as a representative of BEE International. Her first mission was to serve as a teacher trainer and administrative consultant at a K-6 English-speaking Christian school under the direction of Servant Group International. In addition to these responsibilities, she also began to establish trust and a rapport with the leadership of the evangelical church in Northern Iraq. In the summer of 2004, Kathy enrolled as a student at Biola University for a month-long course in teaching English as a second language, a valuable tool in her new assignment working with Kurdish women.

Dearest Friends,
Thanks so much for your continued prayers--I am officially out of quarantine now and feeling fine for which i am very thankful as the truly hot weather has now arrived. It was preceded by an eerie dust bowl that lasted a couple of days and was literally so thick one could not see across the street and heavy enough that you almost felt claustrophobic as your throat & nostrils filled with the taste & smell of dust. I am convinced that it is the closest that I ever want to come to the sensation of being buried alive. I believe it is the kind of conditions that our brave soldiers over here deal with constantly this time of year- as they operate primarily in true desert areas==please faithfully lift them up often for unexpected relief from above.
Here in the north it has dissipated now to a dirty haze and just plain hot, but overall power is much better than it has been in years past which makes an incredible difference in one's comfort level and general outlook on life--of course in terms of the call its also enlightening to remember just how much hotter hell is :-). We have received word that our believing friends in the neighboring country are experiencing repeated unexplained arrests and threats etc due in large part to the recent protests regarding the election Fear is high as everyone waits for the next shoe to drop so please be in prayers for that situation as well. Remember that God is in control regardless of the circumstances and He loves each one of us beyond our wildest imaginings. I was clearly reminded of His love, concern and omnipotence last week.
A few intrepid friends actually came by for a visit during my quarantine. We met on the roof with the required five feet of air space between us as we watched the colors of the sunset fade quickly into darkness and listened to the happy noise of the neighborhood below. Our conversation turned quickly to the abundance of dreams being reported from all over the region. “People are not just saying that Jesus came to them in a dream but instead their bravely sharing many exciting details now,” my friend exclaimed. He went on to tell about one of our brothers who was in a village not far from Erbil just the other day when he met a man from a few hours to the west who was in the same village visiting relatives. This particular man was a fairly high religious official of the majority faith and therefore an honored guest, so the host family wanted our brother to meet him. The conversation was cordial and as often happens the subject of God’s ways arose. Our brother felt prompted to offer this sheik an Arabic Bible that he “happened” to have with him. The official not only openly accepted the Bible--he then asked if he could speak to our brother in private.
When they were alone the sheik began to talk in excited whispers. He began to share about a dream he had recently had. He had actually seen himself coming to this very village and meeting a Christian pastor who gave him some bread after which he returned to his home town and began to build a lighthouse. He earnestly asked our brother if he could possibly interpret the dream for him. Our friend was delighted to show him in the Bible about the Bread of life and the Light of the world and promised to pray for this man often.
