CDY Student Leadership

 

           Every student is faced with a choice in their everyday lives; lead or follow.  It is our desire to come alongside our Christian kids and equip them to lead.  The student leadership ministry will transform how your son or daughter leads their peers as a Christian.

  The Student Leadership Ministry is open to all Christian students in 6th, 7th or 8th grade.  Students and parents are required to review and agree to a contract and pay a $25 annual fee for students to join.  The contract addresses behavior issues, spiritual disciplines, and provides accountability for students who want to grow in their walk with God and learn to lead.  The $25 covers the cost of their shirt, resources given out throughout the year, and helps off set a tiny portion of the cost associated with service projects students will participate in over the year.What is a CDY Student Leader?

 Remember, we believe discipleship happens best in a small group.  That being said this is not an either/or for students.  We want these students in a weekly small group, spending time in God’s word and being discipled by a caring adult leader, then coming to Student Leadership and being taught how to lead.

 The Student Leadership class meets Friday nights @ 7pm in RLM # 1, Upper Room.  The class runs concurrent with the 7pm service at RLM which typically gets over at 8:20pm

 BELOW IS THE CONTRACT AND LINK TO REGISTRATION

 

  • A Christian student who has been baptized or is willing to learn about it and get baptized.
  • Someone who is committed to their relationship with God and others.
  • One who is committed to their small group in CDY and consistently attends.
  • One who is committed to modeling how to "BE" a Christian for their peers.
  • One who is willing to sign the leadership contract.
  • One who is committed to attend the weekly CDY-LEAD meetings.
  • One who is committed to bringing friends to their small group every chance they get.
  • One who is committed to sharing their faith with their friends and family every chance they get.
How do I become a Student Leader?
  1. Go over the CDY-LEAD contract with your parents.
  2. If you can commit to the contract, you need to fill out the registration form with your parents (cost is $25).
CDY STUDENT LEADER CONTRACT
Read the following statements.  If you can promise to follow them, please fill out the registration below.  If you cannot live by these standards, you will not be able to be a CDY STUDENT LEADER.

While I am a leader:
  • I will not watch any "R" rated movies.
  • I will not play any "M" rated video games.
  • I will not date anyone.
  • I will not have a MySpace, or Facebook account.
  • I will allow my parents full access to all of my e-mail accounts, voice or text messages (and give them all necessary passwords).
  • I will be honest and trustworthy.
  • If I make a mistake, I will do my best to make it right as quickly as possible.
  • I will commit to read at least 30 minutes in my Bible every week.
  • I will help other leaders stay on track.
  • I will attend the CDY Leadership meetings every week.
  • I will do everything in my power to attend my CDY small group on Monday nights and be an example to all those I am in contact with.
CONGRATULATIONS!  Are you ready to learn what it's going to take to LEAD?

Parents:  "I have reviewed each of the items above with my student.  My student understands the commitment they are making to be a CDY STUDENT LEADER.  My student has read and agree to the contract.  As their parent(s), I am committed to getting them to CDY LEAD meetings on Friday nights at 7:00 pm in the Upper Room."
