On Mission with God

Q. What is the plan?
A. After much prayer asking God how to handle our rapid growth our Elders were offered by one of our members the opportunity to purchase 118 acres of land just north of our current facility. The Campaign has already brought in enough money to pay for the $2 million needed for the land, which we purchased in July. We will proceed with building on the land as soon as we get a permitted to by the county.
Q. Why did we need to do a campaign?
A. We are growing because of God’s blessings and trying to be His hands and feet to the community. The different ministries, and the staff to run them, are supported by our weekly giving. We must maintain our giving to the operating budget so that day to day RLM ministries will be unaffected. (Acts 20:35) Real Life Ministries doesn’t want to build a new facility at the expense of ministry, so we must get the funds to do that from another source; a building campaign.
Q. Why do we want to expand our current facility?
A. Every week more and more people make decisions for Christ. Every month our number in our 101 membership class grows. Our Home Groups are having record numbers attend. God is not done with Real Life Ministries and we have already run out of space in our weekend services for all of our church body to worship together. The building is being used every night of the week; for ministry, outreach, and training. Healthy things are meant to grow and we don’t want to limit our ministry because of the lack of space.
Q. Why do we need to purchase more property than we already have?
A. Currently we worship together on the approximately 33 acres that Real Life Ministries owns between Cecil Road and Highway 41. If we expand on our current property it will only leave us space for the auditorium expansion and parking. We don’t want to be a place where people just gather for church - we want to be a destination for relationship and memories. We want RLM to be the first place that people in Kootenai County think of going when they want to connect to God and other Christians.
Q. What is the cost of the building project?
A. The initial estimate for construction is still being formulated as we continue to plan for the future of what God has in store for this piece of land. We do know that it is going to be a sizable amount of money. As the theologian John Henry Jowette once said, “Ministry that costs nothing, accomplishes nothing.”
Q. What can I do?
A. You can begin now by praying to know and do God’s Will regarding your gift to this program. Spend time in prayer and meditation on God’s Word as you seek to discover His will. The amount He leads you to give will be the right amount. (2 Cor. 8:11-14)
Q. What about my regular giving?
A. Your commitment to “On Mission with God” should be an amount God leads you to give over and above your regular tithe and offerings. We must maintain our giving to the ministry budget so that day to day church operations will be unaffected. (Acts 20:35)
Q. How will I know how much to give?
A. Pray daily and allow God to open your heart and direct you about your commitment. Through prayer and personal assessment, you will know what to give. Again, your gift, whatever the amount, should be an over-and-above gift. To split our current giving between the current operating expenses and the new building will prove nothing and will endanger our ability to minister in the present.
Q. How long do I give?
A. You may give weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or in a lump sum. Most people prefer a system of regular weekly giving; however, you should make your decision based on God’s will and the best method for you. The campaign started in March of 2007 and is a two year campaign. You can pledge an amount that is until March of 2009 and finish at the same time as the rest of the members that are participating.
Q. Will my contribution be made public?
A. No, absolutely not. Only the total of all commitments received will be announced on Celebration Weekend.
Q. How will I designate my commitment for “On Mission with God”?
A. Our offering envelopes will have an area where you can indicate what part of your offering is for “On Mission with God” and what part is for your regular tithes and offerings.
Q. At the new facility are we still going to have Friday Night Services?
A. Friday Night Services have become a staple for Real Life Ministries. We plan on regardless of where we meet to have Friday Night Service.
Q. What are we going to do with the existing land and buildings?
A. We are praying about that subject right now. We do know that the back half of the property has gained substantially in value since we originally purchased it. We could sell that area and put that money in the building fund for the new land. As for the buildings, we could hang on to them for future ministries; schools, benevolence, recovery. It is too early for a definite answer right now.
Q. How can I give to the campaign now that we have already started?
A. You can still pledge an amount for the On Mission with God Building Campaign even though it has already started by visiting our Online Giving page (on the left-hand column). If you're interested in making a campaign commitment and have not yet been able to do so, please visit our Building Campaign page.
