Production Team

WHAT'S A PRODUCTION TEAM?

The Production Team is a group of individuals who come together to create a worshipful weekend service at Real Life Ministries. We believe that all sons and daughters of Christ are heirs of His gifting through the Holy Spirit. Although we are comprised of individuals, our goal is to operate and function as a team.

With this gifting through the Holy Spirit, we aim to unify the body of Christ in order to glorify the Father by utilizing those gifts with our hands. We come together, with our different giftings, and offer our time as a service to those who attend the weekend service.

As Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV) states, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up”. We work hard to intentionally design, organize, and present our weekend service to the body of Christ, so that it may be edified.

Character & Competency Graph

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for, striving to be, and hope to raise up servants who are high in character and competency. We see both as necessary to accomplish what God is calling us to. We acknowledge that…

  • Someone who is low in character and competency is not currently ready to serve in this ministry.
  • Someone who is high in character, but low in competency is limited in what God can do through them.
  • Someone who is high in competency, but low in character is unlimited in the harm he/she can do operating in the flesh.
  • Someone who is high in character and competency is ready for the good work that God will accomplish through them.

We are all a work in progress, and none of us (staff included) are above coaching/feedback. We place a high value on being humble when accepting feedback and proactively seeking constructive coaching.

When feedback is given, we expect everyone to listen attentively, avoid excuses, and strive to understand and grow. Be mindful of how feedback is received, manage emotions, and make necessary adjustments for the benefit of the whole.

Lastly, feedback is given out of a desire to see others win—celebrating the good and highlighting blind spots with clear, kind alternatives. If offense is taken, we commit to working it out Biblically to protect unity (see 1 Corinthians 12–14).

Minimum Competencies

WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM COMPETENCIES IN THIS MINISTRY?

We understand many people do not have access to production equipment like lighting boards or audio consoles. We believe that our purpose is to equip the saints for the work God has called them to (Ephesians 4:12). If God is stirring your heart towards production, we will work with you to develop those skills. This requires more time investment from you on the front end and flexibility to be available for rehearsals and coaching.

The biggest competencies we are looking for are:

Faithfulness: Following through on commitments to serve.

Availability: In order to grow in skill, you will need time outside of service for training.

Teachability: Past experience is always a bonus, but humility to learn new practices is even more important.

Time Commitments

WHAT ARE THE TIME COMMITMENTS?

Below is a typical schedule/expectation for the volunteer who serves a full weekend, including our campuses that have both Thursday night and Sunday morning services:

  • Sunday – Wednesday (1 hr): Listen to the worship set for the weekend a few times. Get familiar with the songs so you know what camera angles to get, how to dynamically mix the song, and how to follow the energy to support the Platform Team.
  • Thursday Night (3.5 hrs): Monitor check, prayer, and rehearsal (4:00 pm–5:30 pm). Thursday Evening Service Responsibilities (5:45 pm–7:00 pm). Clean-Up and Post-Service Debrief (7:00 pm–7:30 pm).
  • Sunday (6 hrs): Sound-check, prayer, and brief run-through (7:00 am–7:45 am). Sunday Morning Services Responsibilities (8:00 am–1:00 pm). Wins of the Weekend celebration circle (1:00 pm–1:10 pm).

* This time breakdown neglects to list and is assuming that all serving time is a result of and occurs in conjunction with a team member’s growing relationship with Christ (daily time in prayer/reading the Bible, weekly consistency in life groups/weekend worship services).

On-Boarding Process

WHAT IS THE ON-BOARDING PROCESS?

Electronic: Prospective Team Member completes Electronic Interview. After the form has been submitted, one of the Production Team Coaches will communicate with Prospective Team Member to set up the next steps for on-boarding into ministry or collaborate on other serving opportunities.

In Person: Prospective Team Member completes an in-person interview with one of the Production Team Coaches and 2–3 other team members. After an in-person interview, the Production Team Coach will communicate the next steps with Prospective Team Member.

Shadowing:

Prospective Team Member first comes to experience a rehearsal, gets to interact with the team, and shadows with the team leader. Prospective Team Member then meets with Production Team Coach to debrief the experience and get set up with Planning Center if Production Team Coach deems Prospective Team Member is ready at this time.
